We are proud to announce that the NuWave Oven is 100% RoHS compliant! RoHS stands for 'The Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment.' The RoHS Directive took effect on July 1, 2006, and it bans new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than the allowed levels of 6 types of potentially harmful heavy metals and chemicals. To be the materials and toxicological profiles of the product must contain a concentration of less than 0.1% of Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadium (Cd), Hexavalent Chromium (Cr-Vl), Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE).

Currently there are no environmental laws which require manufacturers in the U.S.A. to abide by these guidelines; however, we at Hearthware, Inc. have made a conscious decision to voluntarily follow this directive in the manufacturing of our NuWave Ovens as we are devoted to doing our part to help preserve the environment. The NuWave Ovens is a green machine because it
● Uses overall than a conventional oven
● Uses energy in a smarter, more efficient way while saving counter space
● Requires no preheating
● Requires no defrosting
● Emits less heat meaning your kitchen will stay cooler in the summer
● Uses infrared waves that are safer for the environment and more effective in cooking than microwaves
Plus it requires only 1500 Watts, saving up to when compared to a regular conventional oven. Best of all, it won't heat up your kitchen so there's no need to turn on the air-conditioner in the summer to cool down a house warmed by cooking.
The liner pan of the NuWave Oven is also PTFE and PFOA free. Products that contain PTFE will emit harmful fumes when heated past 570F. These fumes can be harmful to humans, pets and fatal to birds. If people inhale the fumes they can acquire what is known as the polymer fume fever, which includes flu-like symptoms with chest-tightness and mild coughing. If birds inhale these fumes they can die due to the toxins. However, since the NuWave Oven and its components are completely PTFE-free it is environmentally safe and pet-friendly!
